I know I haven’t written since Travis and I returned from Italy (most amazing trip EVER), but I wanted to write a quick post with an update about my next surgery. My next surgery (DIEP Flap Reconstruction) will be this coming Monday, July 15th. I am a little bit nervous about it, but mostly I am just ready to get it over with and be on the other side of it. This is the last major part of my cancer journey, and I am so glad to be almost done! I will likely write a blog post about the Italy trip while I am in recovery because I will have plenty of time to do it justice. There is so much to write about, and so many pictures to choose from that it is going to take a little while to compose.
For this recovery I will be spending five days in the ICU, and then two to three weeks in the hotel on site at City of Hope. My plastic surgeon prefers that his patients stay close for a little while after this type of surgery, so that he can monitor the recovery closely and hopefully prevent any problems from arising. It is going to be strange being away from home for that long, but I am ready to do whatever is needed for all of this to be over with. I have amazing family and friends that are ready to support in whatever way they can, and I will be forever grateful.
So be on the lookout because as soon as I feel up to it, I will tell you all about one of the best trips of my life that I was lucky enough to go on with the Carrollton Wind Ensemble to Italy. See you guys on the other side! ✌🏻
