So, not a lot has changed since we last met. I am finally back at work, and it really hasn’t been that bad at all! The work environment seems to have improved while I was out, and we got a few new associates that seem to fit in well.
I also did my first walk/jog since the surgery! It felt so good to get back out there, and my time was actually a lot better than I expected!

I had a video call with a genetics counselor from City of Hope this past Wednesday. She was tasked with making sure that the genetic testing that I had done in Carrollton was all encompassing for the genes that my oncologist wanted me tested for. She said that what I had done in Carrollton was satisfactory, and there are no genetic mutations that make me predisposed to breast cancer or a pretty big number of other cancers as well. Even though this doesn’t help us in figuring out why this happened to me, it is good news that I am not passing any of those mutations down through my sons.
Thursday I had a follow up at the plastic surgeons office. Everything looks good! I have healed well. I was told that my 10 pound weight lifting limit has been lifted, although I still need to be careful and use caution when lifting heavy objects. I definitely should not be lifting anything heavy over my head or holding it against my chest. I was given permission to jog (oops, I already did 😆), and they went ahead and did one more fill into the tissue expanders. They didn’t add a lot, but it made a huge difference for me. I feel more like myself, and like my clothes fit a lot more like they used to.
We are kind of in a holding pattern when it comes to the reconstruction phase until we hear back from the oncologist about whether she recommends chemo or not. They did look at the CT scan that I had done a couple of weeks ago and said that everything looks good there for me to be able to do the DIEP flap reconstruction. So, now we just wait until this upcoming Thursday to find out what all the oncologist recommends.
Jaxon had his first real playdate at our house this afternoon! He has a friend that he plays with online all the time that he went to preschool with when he was three. Fate has somehow kept us running into him and his parents around town over the years, so we have been able to keep them in each other’s lives. When Jaxon gets home from school, all he wants to do is call this sweet friend on Kids Messenger and play. Well today, the stars aligned for his friend to come over and play in person, and I could not be more grateful! They had a blast! I had the house all opened up because today was a beautiful day, and they were outside on the trampoline, then they were inside playing in Jaxon’s room, then they were in the office watching a show, then back out to the trampoline. It was a joy to watch them enjoy playing together in person. I am super grateful to his mom for entrusting him to me so they could have this time. ❤
I have been spending a good bit of my at home time working on crocheted items for the Art in the Garden craft show later this month. I hope we have beautiful weather and a great turnout for this event! If you happen to be in the Carroll County area on April 28th, stop by and see us! There are about 25 vendors that are participating, and I believe the Butter’ Dudder truck will be there as well. These keychains are the most recent thing I have been working on.

That’s about all I’ve got for this update, and I promise to post again once I get the official news from the oncologist about the test results. I hope you all have a great week!
